About the Programme

Launched on 14th of October 2021, Nasarawa CARES is a programme developed by a tripartite agreement by the World Bank, the Federal Government and the State Governments to combat the economic effects of the covid-19 pandemic, specifically for the poor and vulnerable segment of the society.

The programme is built on the existing state programmes such as State Cash Transfer Unit (SCTU), Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) and State FADAMA Coordinating Office (SFCO).

N-CARES Objectives
  • Stimulate the economy by preventing business collapse and ensuring liquidity.
  • Retain or create jobs using labor-intensive methods in key areas such as agriculture, facility maintenance, housing, and direct labor interventions.
  • Undertake growth-enhancing and job-creating infrastructural investments in roads, bridges, solar power, and communication technologies.
  • Extend protection to the very poor and other vulnerable groups—including women and persons living with disabilities—through pro-poor spending.
